Oct 25, 2012 I decided not to get it, I don't feel like spending another $150-$200 for a Larue or ADM mount. Randy, I know its doesn't compare to the real thing but I had one of the Primary Arms micro dots which is basically the same thing on a DD mount and I didn't really like it.
Ok, I am in a position to buy a used CompM4 from a guy and was wondering if it would be worth it. Here is the scenario.
Things I know for fact: He used to work for a company that did government contract work and received a contract to de-mil a bunch of government hardware. I've looked at it and it turns on and functions, he is going to let me range test it before I purchase it. He is selling it cause he has been out of work for a while and needs the money desperately. Still has the ID number the armorer puts on it (I'm in the military and recognized the number format {all of our optics have the same thing}, so unless he put the numberon it in blue paint pen it is pretty obviously former military use).
Things he claims, that I cant prove (I have no reason to think he is lying (he's a close friend of a friend), just laying the facts out there): His boss got the go ahead to either destroy or give away some of the CompM4s. They were being de-MILed due to the government shut down/down sizing and the hardware having cosmetic damages. He used to have it on his 12 gauge and it worked fine but he took it off when he got a turkey scope.

What should I look out for and what should I do to make sure this thing works? Anything I should know about these and buying them used? All help will be greatly appreciated.
TL:DR- Can buy a used de-MILed CompM4 for cheap, should I?
