| Posted: Sun Dec 07, 2014 6:53 am Post subject: serial number location | I see numbers on the engine block. Which is the exact serial number? One starts on the upper edge of the block just above the oil filter, the other is just behind the distributer / hydraulic pump area.

| Posted: Sun Dec 07, 2014 5:21 pm Post subject: Re: serial number location | The engine s/n will be stamped on a flat above the distributor near the front spark plug as others have noted. On a couple 123 engine tractors I have it is hard to see because it is directly behind the governor control rod just to the rear of the governor. Just raise or push the rod down a little and the stamped number should be visible, Hal.

Now everyone here is talking about the engine serial number. Not sure what you are wanting but the tractor serial number (main one used) is going to be located on a metal tag/plate that is riveted to the chassis. THe location of that plate depends on the model of tractor. The engine serial number doesn't correspond with the tractor serial number usually, and in a lot of cases the engine could have been changed which would give you a number that wasn't correct if you are trying to go by the engine number.
