Colt AR-15 SP1, serial number SP18135, made in 1971. This gun is very similar in appearance and function to the M16 rifles used in Vietnam at the time this commercial semi-auto model was made. Caliber is.223/5.56 NATO.
Colt Sp1 Value
Looking at purchasing a Colt SP1 locally that is being represented as a 1966 R6000 model. I've done my research and everything on this rifle checks out except the serial number part of the roll mark. Instead of SER. SPXXXXX it reads SERIAL XXXXX. I am perplexed and would appreciate some insight before I commit to a purchase. Looking on the internet I've only seen one other image with a serial number resembling that same anomaly. I've attached a pic below of the actual gun in question. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.
