The Leica M6 is a rangefinder camera manufactured by Leica from 1984 to 1998. The M6 combines the silhouette of the Leica M3 and Leica M4 with a modern, off-the-shutter light meter with no moving parts and LED arrows in the viewfinder. Independent of the serial number, those M6 bodies that actually suffered from the issues you mentioned and had them fixed seem to be the ones to go for. And the ones that have the MP-upgrade done won't suffer from the white-out flare issue.

I just bought a Leica M6 non TTL and the light meter doesn't appear to be working. I got it form somebody that doesn't know much about Leica camera so I wasn't able to get much info from them. None of the LED's are lighting up in the finder. I don't have a lens to test on it as of the moment, so I'm not sure if putting a lens on the camera might fix my problem. Anybody on r/Leica have some insight as to what might be the problem? I haven't read that the light meters break often on these cameras, but I'm fairly new to Leica in general. Thank you!
