So I apologize for asking this - as I see others have asked similar questions.
I'm moving to a new apartment this week that has previously had FIOS installed and activated. I'm starting a new account in my name (internet only) - don't want to rent a Verizon router - and want to use my own.

While I've seen some folks say I need to activate service with a Verizon router - I've seen others say this isn't true. I know I'll have to call Verizon to have them activate the ethernet as opposed to the COAX line regardless.
Does anyone know the answer for this? I'm thinking since service has already existed at the location I may not need to rent their router for the first month.
